Creepy Crawlies play centre and Adventure Park in York boasts almost 2 acres of challenging, imaginative and exciting indoor and outdoor activity areas for children of all ages.
It also offers a fantastic opportunity for children to develop other important life skills, such as socialising, risk taking, judgement and creativity. Even grown-ups are actively encouraged to join in!
Creepy Crawlies’ relationship with SCY began when Business Manager Susan McColl assisted Creepy Crawlies’ owner Janice Dunphy to broker key relationships with both of York’s universities.
Janice was seeking research expertise to help demonstrate the clear benefits of participating in active play, both from a customer standpoint, and to inform research studies into young people’s health and wellbeing.
With such passion for their industry and hunger for innovation, Creepy Crawlies were ideally placed to benefit from working with SCY.
Janice explains: “From a dual perspective as a Business Director and as the chair of the Play Providers Association, the benefit of the work SCY has co-ordinated with York St John and Creepy Crawlies is exactly what our Industry has been seeking for years and failed to initiate.
“The research will be extremely valuable for the future of indoor play, making clear the connection between active play and health and development.
“We have banged on many doors, held discussions with senior Civil Servants within the Department for Health, and always run into the same issues. We need proof and, with thanks to Susan McColl and the SCY team, this may now be within our grasp.
“We want to forge strong relationships with the Universities in York, and we have a great advocate in SCY.”
