Campaigners Push for York TV Station

Campaigners have vowed to press ahead with plans for a local TV station for York, and say a web-based channel could be up and running sooner than first hoped.

York missed out when the Government granted the first licences earlier this month, but the team behind the plans say they have not been deterred.

Carl Wolf, business development manager at SCY, who helped spearhead York’s bid, said the regulator OFCOM had chosen areas that had the largest population coverage, and where stations were therefore easiest to set up from a transmitter point of view.
