A new programme that will provide dedicated and structured coaching support for up to 10,000 high growth potential businesses a year has taken another step forward today. The Coaching for Growth Consortium has signed a contract to deliver the programme, which is scheduled to be fully operational by March 2012.

£19.7 Million: The University of York and The Food and Environment Research Agency

SCY played a key coordinating role in the bid to sesure over £19.7 million from the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF), the third largest single European investment in the region.

SCY:

  • Steered a highly complex bid, from inception to the award of a multi-million pound grant
  • Successfully co-ordinated the multi-partnership project
  • Drew out a common objective from a diverse group of project partners

York May Get a New Arts Centre

Culture bosses are looking into setting up a new arts centre in York - and it could be based at the Bonding Warehouse.

City of York Council has revealed that a feasibility study has been commissioned to look into demand for a new “media arts facility” in the city, as well as options for potential venues.

A spokeswoman said the authority and partners in the creative and cultural sector, including SCY, were working together on the project.

NESTA Announces Centre for Innovation Prizes

The National Endowment for Science, Technology & the Arts (NESTA) is establishing a centre for innovation prizes. This will be a hub for expertise in designing, setting up and running challenge prizes to tackle social and technological challenges in the public interest.

NESTA believes that prizes offering a reward to whoever can first, or most effectively, meet a defined challenge can be a powerful way of encouraging innovation. These prizes, referred to as challenge or inducement prizes, are expected to be effective in:
