The Technology Facility Insight Day
Take an Insight into Bioscience Technology!
Come to this one-day lecture series (and tour) that will present cutting edge technology available to the bioscientist today.
Today's bioscience techniques can be applied from idea to product using resources like vast, online, organism databases and total-genome DNA sequencing through to novel ways of detecting minute changes in protein structure and interactions.
The hosting organisation, The Technology Facility, is a unified group of experts in bioscience tech who incorporate everything from bioinformatics through to in vivo imaging and cytometry. As a powerful, complete solution the Facility can take an idea, identify a relevant gene from online databases or living target cells, extract it, express the gene in a number of production systems and purify to research quality, characterise it, analyse its interactions and study it within a living, cellular environment. From the scale of pay as you go, through managed projects and up to complete collaborative projects the TF can interact with both academic and industrial groups at a variety of levels.
The manufacturers that make the highly sensitive machines and equipment are constantly developing new applications and methods, much in collaboration with users and the Technology Facility staff have been working very closely with them. This provides the staff with a deep understanding of the capabilities of the technology as well as early access to the newest machines from manufacturers such as Bruker, Applikon, Beckman Coulter, Zeiss and JEOL.
You should attend if you are curious about these techniques and technologies, are interested in finding new ways of using your current equipment or want to follow the leading edge of what's new and what will be new in the next six months! If you have technical challenges or want to re-evaluate processes and procedures or even want to train staff on new machines the TF is the place to do it and the Insight Day is the time to find out what can be done.
There will also be a mini-exhibition with partner companies and technologies.
For more details and how to register please see the attached flyer and this link. For the registration fee you will receive a CPD certificate, a course booklet, refreshments and lunch.
