Venue:
TV Club Seven Arts Centre, Chapel Allerton, Leeds, LS7 3PD

TV Club, the network for broadcast professionals, is back!  A hotbed for indies, freelancers, and regional BBC and YTV staff to share best practice, pool talent and collectively share screen successes.

As many of you will know TV Club was established in 2009 and delivered by established producers Jess Fowle (True North Productions), Tony Parker (BBC) and Dee Marshall (Really Good Productions).

Delivery of the network programme has now been handed to Creative York member Chris Brooke, of Rolling Snowballs Productions with the joint support of Screen Yorkshire and Creative York.

The TV Club ran very successfully last year and offered regional broadcast professionals the opportunity to meet up and chat about industry issues, network, meet old friends and new contacts and simply support each other during what was, for many, a very difficult year.  But now is the time to look forward and not back, take stock in the fact that Yorkshire boasts some of the best production talent in the country and work together towards making 2010 a positive and successful year for all.

Jess Fowle says of the TV Club, 'We're thrilled that Chris is taking over the running of the TV Club and very grateful for the support of Screen Yorkshire and Creative York.  Chris is really keen to develop and grow the Club to meet the needs of its members and has the drive and determination to make that happen.  As the industry continues to change at such a rapid pace, it's too easy for people to become isolated from one another and forget that they're actually part of a really talented and supportive TV community.  The TV Club meetings are a really great way of staying in touch with old colleagues and meeting new faces, making new connections, getting new jobs or developing new projects.  So get the first meeting in your diaries and I look forward to seeing you there."

To this end with the support of Screen Yorkshire and Creative York, TV Club has secured funding to run for another twelve months.

The joint funding has presented the exciting opportunity to alternate TV Club events between two cities, Leeds and York.  The first event September 1st beginning 7pm at the Seven Arts Centre, Chapel Allerton, Leeds. With a special keynote speech from Richard Deverell, Chief Operating Officer at the BBC's new broadcasting and production centre at Salford Quays.
The Next event will follow swiftly on October 14th and will be held at the University of York where former BBC Director General, Greg Dyke, will provide TV Club members with an exclusive tour of the university’s new Film and Television facilities.

I would like to reaffirm the fact that the TV Club network is designed to be run by its members and at the first event in September we will be looking for suggestions as to how you would like TV Club to grow and the direction you would like it to take.
