Professor Nicola Spence
Nicola Spence is the Chief Executive at SCY. Nicola has overall responsibility to the SCY Board for leading the SCY team and the delivery of its programmes and outputs. Nicola also represents York at the National Science Cities network.
Prior to joining the company in 2010, Nicola was Chief Scientist at the Food and Environment Research Agency at Sand Hutton, near York, where she was responsible for science strategy and quality. She has extensive experience working with government departments and non-departmental bodies to include HDC, EU and BBSRC and is a Trustee for Kew Gardens.

Fay Treloar
Fay Treloar is the Operations Director at SCY. As one of Yorkshire’s leading ERDF specialists, Fay leads on securing major revenue and capital investment for both SCY and its clients, playing a leading role in securing significant funding for the region.
Fay, an experienced Contract Specialist and Business Development Manager within the automotive and healthcare industries, also has extensive experience of managing the successful delivery of a portfolio of business programmes.
She has overall responsibility for managing SCY’s business, innovation and funding services as well as being Project Director as part of SCY’s delivery of GrowthAccelerator across York, North Yorkshire, Hull and East Yorkshire.
Fay is also Company Secretary for SCY and SCY Enterprise and is an executive member of SCY’s Audit and Finance committee.

Andrew Smith
Andrew Smith is the Finance Manager for SCY. This is a varied role encompassing managing all the company's financial functions and contributing to business planning and strategic development.
Andrew has a long-held career history in finance spanning manufacturing, engineering, retail, financial services and IT, beginning with British Steel and most recently as management accountant for a printer parts distribution company.

Jayne Gledhill
As Administrator, Jayne is responsible for the management of SCY support systems, Jayne is the first point of contact for administrative and finance functions for the company. Jayne is also PA to the SCY Chief Executive.
Jayne has several years accountancy experience, and operating and implementing a full range of administration systems, providing administrative support at a senior level, working both in the public and commercial sectors.

Dr Mark Saw
SCY Projects Manager Mark has been involved in industrial and academic science application since his PhD and has successfully completed a KTP as well as working for a technology development department and in a start up company on novel technologies.
As SCY Projects Manager, Mark oversees current SCY contracts as well as identifying new opportunities and forming groups to exploit up and coming funding calls. He will be applying his expertise in Bioscience and the scientific method to identify, exploit, initiate and manage funded projects for the benefit of partner governmental, academic and industrial organisations.

Heather Niven
Heather Niven is SCY’s Innovation Lead, helping companies boost performance and growth by stimulating the development of new products, processes and markets. Heather also specialises in helping to streamline and transform the internal processes and service delivery of major public sector organisations, facilitating transformational change in cities.
Recent project GeniUS York, supported by NESTA, in which SCY partnered with City of York Council, won a global award - the Living Labs Global Award for social innovation.

Claire Eldred
Claire is SCY’s Innovation Project Manager and works as part of the SCY Innovation team to develop, deliver and grow SCY’s ‘Innovation Management’ services ensuring the maximum gains and full potential of opportunities are realised.
As an Architect and Prince2 practitioner Claire is an experienced Project Manager, and has expertise in partnership working, stakeholder management, and service development, as well as a track record of successful project delivery. She has a career spanning the civil service, local authority and the private sector and is currently working in partnership with the City of York Council to deliver the Innovate York programme.

Brendan Tannam
Brendan Tannam is SCY’s Innovation Project Coordinator, with responsibility for assisting the Innovation Project Specialist and Manager in delivering the Innovate York Programme and coordinating a portfolio of events, projects and initiatives with a focus on innovation. Brendan also acts as an ambassador on the behalf of SCY at events and conferences.
Brendan holds a MA in Social Policy at the University of York and before joining SCY he worked in the European Commission in Brussels and the Department of Communications, Energy and Natural Resources in Dublin.

Daniel Wigglesworth
Daniel is the Web Developer at SCY, responsible for the functional development of SCY’s data management, web and digital services, principally the technical development and optimisation of SCY’s website.
Daniel has a background in web & multimedia development and holds an MSc in Creative Technology. Prior to working at SCY Daniel has worked in a variety of capacities within the creative and digital industries, which has included one of the UK’s leading DVD Authoring houses and an online video delivery platform, amongst other roles.
Becky Appleyard-Kelly
Becky is SCY's Marketing Executive - ERDF Projects and is responsible for researching and writing press releases to targeted media, collating and analysing SCY's media coverage and keeping SCY's online presence dynamic and up to date. Becky also contributes to the planning and delivery of SCY publications, events and marketing materials.
A graduate of the University of York, Becky's background is in communications. Before joining SCY, Becky used her degree in English Literature as a solid foundation to complete internships in marketing, PR and creative agencies in Leeds, London and York.
