On Wednesday 30th January businesses from the digital technology industries and students aspiring to digital careers came together for a day of networking, talks and workshops at the York Technology Conference 2019.
Science City York, one of the sponsors of the event, was happy to be one of the organisations present on the day and led one of the afternoon workshops.
The conference, which was organised by a student committee in partnership with Netsells UK, aimed to bridge the gap between students and employers and explore emerging technological trends.
In the morning there was a chance for students to ‘speed-pitch’ business ideas to a panel of judges including Heather Niven, Head of Science City York. The winner of the pitching session received £500.
On the agenda was talks by prestigious industry leaders including Mansha Manohar, Senior Design Researcher at the BBC, Brannan Coady, the CEO of Netsells, and Darryl Mattocks, the Founder of Enistic. Professionals from a wide range of leading companies held workshops including IBM, PureNet Solutions, Sykes and York Community Consulting.
The feedback on the day from both students and employers was overwhelmingly positive and there are already plans for another Technology Conference to take place in 2020.
